Catbox: OS Upgrade

The Catbox's OS [br] will be upgraded to:

Today I decided I didn't want to study, so I decided I wanted to upgrade the Catbox. I just called Refalm this morning, who was still hungover from last night. Today Refalm and I will migrate all servers to Debian Squeeze, the latest stable version of Debian GNU/Linux, the Universal Operating System.
Switching to Linux has many benefits for server administrators. For example, no more passive virus scanners. We simply do not need them. Debian is resource efficient, unlike Windoze. Debian boots faster and is faster in general. Debian doesn't have a random annoying error generator like Windoze. Administrating a Debian box is easier and has more logic to it.
What does this mean for our clients? They won't even notice, because everything will just go smooth.

The only thing we're not sure about is the PVKII server. There might not be a PVKII server for Linux, we don't know. If that's the case, we can always host a different server on the Catbox, and move the PVKII server.

Until we're finished, all Catbox services are down. I have absolutely no idea how long this is gonna take, but I am fairly sure that everything is up and running by the time we want to booze on TS again.

The catbox did too much catnip to accept another OS.

 

Just tried Mint, it failed for some reason. I'm stuck with Winblows for now.

 

I wonder if Windows 7 would even work, those errors you got with Linux were weird as shit.

 

Not sure if that's a good idea, Win7. Look at the specs...

The Catbox has succesfully been upgraded to: Catbox 2.0!
Catbox 2.0 is running Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.5 using Linux kernel 2.6.-32-686.

Refalm's gonna migrate the servers now. Dunno when it's done, you'll have to ask Refalm.
