Dear muCosmos community, It has come to my attention that only a few people have ever donated. This is of course your own decision, but think about this: If you donate (monthly), the Director can hire a better server, which leads to better pings, which leads to no lag, which means less costs in the end because we need to hire less other servers. One awesome dedicated (non-virtual) server is enough to host all Synergy servers and the Minecraft server without lag. Currently, people from the United States experience high pings when they're on our virtual Syn server in Germany. At muCosmos, we have standards, even though we are not aware of them because we're usually under the influence of sweet sweet ethanol. We love low pings, and having jolly fun with our players on our servers. The Director, Refalm, can hire an awesome server for 50 euro's a month. As you'll understand, paying 50 euro's a month as a student is a bitch. I am making a list of people who are willing to donate every month, so that we can get better servers and a better quality of service. If you are not considering donating, consider this: It's easy to say no, but the more people donating means donating becomes cheaper. If you are willing to donate, reply to this topic. On Friday (27-04) I will calculate how much each one will have to donate. Remember, donating happens voluntarily, but donating ensures the stability of the community. Potential donors: - GC - Jens14 - Markvkalsbeek - J0ttem - JJ1forces - Mastermind_EJ One time donation from Brantweerman: € 20,- (Good for 5 months!) Monthly goal: € 30,- Sign-ups: 6 Number of sign-ups needed (at least): 5 (which means € 6,- each) The more the better! More people = cheaper donations. ~~~ Useful Information ~~~ All donations are done by PayPal. If you don't have a PayPal account, make one. PayPal will come in handy when making donations, buying things on the internet, and buying games on Steam. € 4 Donation link Donations will be made 24th of every month.
Aye! I have asked 3 more people, and they haven't said yes or no yet: - Bald Guy - Mastermind_EJ - JJ1forces To these guys: Look at the current list of people, if you three agree to donate monthly aswell, we have 7 people donating, which means about 4.2 euro's each, which I will round down to 4 euro's a month.
There are six people now, which means 5 euro's each. I know money is a precious thing, so I am lowering the monthly donation to 4 euro's each. On the 24th of May, Refalm will receive 24 euro's to cover the server costs from us. Brantweerman aka Baardaap has donated 20 euro's (that's good for 4 months). In total Refalm will receive 44 euro's.
I'd like to thank everyone for donating! What I'm going to do with it is rent a professional dedicated server, this will make the two Synergy servers the #1 of the world again. There will also be more stuff in there. I'm also looking at donator perks (without giving gameplay advantages of course). If you would like a server of your favourite game hosted, please tell me so, I'll see what I can do
A friendly reminder: Today is the 24th. You can donate using PayPal. If you don't have PayPal, get it, it's useful. If you want to make a bank transfer, ask Refalm for his account number.
Thank you if you already donated 8) I'm currently looking at getting a brand new server in Amsterdam. Also, donator perks for now include: Start votes on all servers Get a reserved slot View the super-secret admin section that's filled with free beer and loose women I'm going to search for more cool donator stuff (not something that will affect gameplay though).
Nice one! Thank you for all your donations! So far, 5/6 donators have donated. The last guy will donate soon, I'm sure. He's just very busy with other stuff aswell.
A nice lady called Karin from the new hosting company said they are going to build the new server and plug it in at wednesday. Please awe these specs: Intel Quad Core Xeon X3210 (8M Cache, 2.13 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB) 4 GB RAM DDR2 500GB SATA 2 1 hop from internetnode in Amsterdam
Sorry, Steve Ballmer already invaded with Windows Server 2008 R2. I read a lot of topics with people complaining that the Synergy team is way too noob to make a decent Linux version of their server. Unfortunatly, I like that version of Windows the best. It's got the least bullshit, and there's actually an effort to do security.
